Congratulations to the Graduate Student Organization of the Year!

Our 2018-2019 GSO was awarded the Graduate Student Organization of the Year award by the Graduate Student Senate at the GSS Awards Breakfast earlier this month! This award recognizes graduate and/or professional student organizations or councils for their extraordinary contributions to graduate student life or to their respective academic department or program.

One of the many ways the CFS Graduate Student Organization has contributed outstandingly to the department and community this year was by hosting a campus-wide bake sale where they raised almost $500 by selling homemade, handcrafted, and hand-delivered baked goods.

All proceeds from the bake sale were then donated to See Beautiful, a philanthropic company with a mission to provide inspiring, ethically-sourced products to create more beautiful in the world.

(The graduate students were able to arrange a way to personally donate the money to See Beautiful Founder, and CFS Alum, Dr. Lydia Criss Mays.

Two of our outstanding GSO members, Marie Bliss and Kayley Davis, were also awarded individually for their contributions and service to the organization:

Marie received the “Excellence in Service Award”. This award is presented to graduate and professional students who are extraordinary campus leaders, participate in service learning or other community initiatives, and/or provide service leadership to their academic discipline through service in professional organizations.Kayley DavisKayley received the “Excellence in Graduate Research” award. This award is presented to graduate and professional students who have received national and/or international recognition in their field and show promise in their area of research and/or creative achievement

We are so proud of all of you and the hard work that you all have put in to this organization and this department. Congratulations on your many achievements!
