Dallas is from Athens, GA. She received her B.A. in International Affairs from the University of Georgia. Her main research interests relate to the influence of parents on children’s social and emotional development.


Amanda Capannola

Amanda is from Nashville, TN.  She received her B.A. in American Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Her major professor is Dr. Elizabeth Johnson.  Amanda’s primary research interests include racial and economic justice in practice as a means to address and understand the well-being of adolescents with marginalized identities.



Megan Chaney

Megan is from Fort Loramie, OH. She received her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Human Development from The University of Tennessee. Her main interests concern prenatal, infant, and toddler development as well as professional development within child care settings.



Katie Hampton

Katie is from Dyersburg, TN. She received her B.S. in Child and Family Studies from the University of Tennessee. Her main research interest relates to the roles that animals play with children of special needs.


Shan Jiang, PhDShan Jiang

Shan is from Guangzhou, China. She received her B.S. in Applied Psychology from Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China and her M.A. in Education from Vanderbilt University. Her major professor is Dr. Julia Jaekel.  Shan’s research interests focus on young children’s social emotional development.

Tanner is from Abilene, Texas. He received his B.S. in Animal Science and MEd. in Agricultural Education from Texas A&M University. His major professor is Dr. Elizabeth Johnson. Tanner’s primary research interests relate to incarceration of African American men and the impact on family relationships.

Madison is from Seymour, TN. She received her B.S. in Special Education with a concentration in Educational Interpreting from the University of Tennessee. Madison’s research focuses on children and families with special needs.



Nicole Mullican

Nicole is from Rock Island, TN. She received her B.S. in Child and Family Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Her main research interests relate to marriage stability and in particular, the impact of children on marriage stability.



Tobey Nichols

Tobey Nichols is from Clayton, CA. He received his B.A. in Political Science from San Francisco State University and his M.A. in Teaching from the University of Southern California. His major professor is Dr. Julia Jaekel. Tobey’s research focuses on how adversity effects development over the life span.
