CFS 555: Cross-cultural Perspectives in Early Care & Education

WHO? Students interested in learning more about cross-cultural practices, policies, and environments in the early care and education of young children and their families. The course is comprised of a range of experiences (online, fieldwork, film analysis, readings, and participation in cross-cultural partnerships) and can be taken to satisfy part of the requirements for the CFS Children, Youth and Families International Certificate (tiny.utk.edu/icyfc).

WHY? Students will have access to a wide range of diverse perspectives from the field of early childhood education and their personal collaborations. The overarching goal is to become better informed about a range of values, beliefs, and practices and combat ethnocentric tendencies through your engagement in cross-cultural experiences with others in a variety of global settings.
