Professor/Child Development Specialist

Biography

Dr. Matthew Devereaux is a Professor and Human Development Extension Specialist in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Tennessee.  He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia and his Master’s and PhD in Child & Family Studies from the University of Tennessee.  In his current role, he is responsible for proactively developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities that support state-wide outreach through UT’s network of Family and Consumer Science and 4-H Youth Development Agents.  Areas of responsibility include in-service training, grantsmanship, developing Extension publications, and service at the departmental, Institute and University levels.  His current areas of expertise include early childhood education, parenting, afterschool programming, childcare center programming, mental health education, social & emotional learning, and trauma-informed practices.
