Student Spotlight: Kevin Treadway at the Family Justice Center

If you were to sum up your placement in one tagline/movie quote/song title, what would it be?

“Be kind, for everyone you know is fighting a great battle.”

– Philo

What is one piece of advice you would give your pre-practicum self?

I would tell my pre-practicum self that it is impossible to help everyone and that that is okay. There are a lot of moments at the Family Justice Center when I want to simply just do everything myself; the Family Justice Center has taught me humility, and that it is okay to tell someone you are unable to help them and to instead connect them with someone who can.

Describe your most meaningful experience so far:

My most meaningful experiences have been times when I see clients coming in who are weeping from the situations that they are leaving, but end up leaving the Family Justice Center happy and thankful. It is always rewarding to see someone who you know was in a terrible situation, where it seemed like there was no hope, get the help that they need and become elated at the thought of their newfound freedom.
